Professional Amataros Course
A 5-day training in rare Thai tool-assisted therapeutic bodywork.
Amataros gives experienced practitioners another way to work with persistent tension, dense or restricted areas, and parts of the body that can be difficult to approach effectively with hands alone.
The method uses a long wooden tool with a small metal working tip, allowing precise contact with muscles, fascia, tendons and areas around nerve pathways.
You learn how to use the tool safely and accurately, and just as importantly, when Amataros is useful, where to work, and when another hands-on approach may be the better choice.
5 days · 30 hrs · Maximum 12 students · 20,000 THB (incl. tools and tuition)
What Makes Amataros Different
Sometimes the hands reach their limit. An area may feel dense. Movement may remain restricted. A long-standing pattern may continue to hold despite good manual work.
Amataros gives the practitioner another way to approach the area with precision. The tool creates a different kind of contact from thumbs, fingers, palms or elbows and can be used alongside the hands rather than instead of them.
The aim is not to replace massage. It is to give you another therapeutic option when the body in front of you needs something different.

A Different Tool, A Different Kind of Access
The Amataros tool is simple. Learning to use it well is not.
You develop control over position, angle, contact, pressure, direction, stability and precision. Because the working tip is small and specific, small changes in the way you hold or position the tool can significantly change the way the technique feels. The course therefore places strong emphasis on control, accuracy and safe application.
You learn how to work with areas involving muscles, fascia, tendons, restricted tissue, joints and surrounding structures, and areas around nerve pathways. You also learn how to move between Amataros and hands-on bodywork within the same treatment.
The Body Determines the Treatment
Amataros is not taught as a fixed protocol that must be completed from beginning to end. Before using the tool, you learn to observe the person in front of you.
Observe. Feel. Respond.
The tool is only useful when the practitioner knows why, where and when to use it.

What You Will Learn
Over five days, you develop practical control of the Amataros tool through demonstration, repetition, supervised practice and personal correction. Training covers tool handling, contact and precision, working with muscular tension, fascia and restricted tissue, tendon and joint-related work, areas around nerve pathways, body observation, treatment adaptation, integration with massage and bodywork, and complete treatment practice.
Five Days With the Tool in Your Hands
This is practical training. You watch. You practise. You receive the work. You are corrected. You repeat.
Experiencing Amataros as well as learning to give it helps you understand the method from both sides of the treatment table. As the week progresses, the tool should begin to feel less like an object you are trying to control and more like an extension of the work you already do with your hands.
The goal is not simply to remember where to place it. It is to develop enough sensitivity and control to use it intelligently within a treatment.

What the Client Experiences
Amataros is used with the intention of helping areas of persistent tension and restriction feel freer and easier. Clients may experience greater ease through an area that previously felt restricted, a sense of more space or openness, easier movement, less physical holding, and a feeling of lightness after treatment.
The response varies from person to person, which is precisely why the method is taught as an adaptable therapeutic tool rather than a fixed routine.
A Rare Thai Bodywork Method
Amataros remains little known outside Thailand and uncommon even within the country. The method is traced to a Thai monk who developed this distinctive form of tool-assisted bodywork. It was then passed through his family and continued through a small number of practitioners.
Sirichan's connection to the method comes through direct training with a member of the originator's family, followed by extensive use of Amataros within clinical bodywork practice in Chiang Mai. That clinical experience now forms the basis of how the method is taught at Sirichan.
Amataros (อมตะรส) can be translated as "Taste of Eternity" or "Taste of Immortality." The name reflects the rejuvenating quality traditionally associated with the treatment, the sense of greater freedom, lightness and renewed ease that may follow the work.

What You Take Back to Your Practice
By the end of the five days, the goal is for you to be able to use Amataros safely and confidently as part of your existing therapeutic work.
You leave with practical control of the Amataros tool, techniques for working with different areas of the body, greater understanding of when the method may be useful, experience adapting pressure, angle and positioning, a way to work with areas that may be difficult to approach with hands alone, experience integrating Amataros with massage and other bodywork techniques, and greater confidence deciding when to use the tool and when not to.
And you leave with your own Amataros tool to continue using in your professional practice.
Who This Course Is For
Amataros is designed for experienced hands-on practitioners. It is particularly suited to massage therapists, bodyworkers, physiotherapists, manual therapists and other experienced hands-on practitioners.
Not suitable for complete beginners. Participants should already be comfortable working with clients and have a practical understanding of hands-on bodywork.
Small Group Training
The course is taught in a small group so there is time for hands-on supervision and individual correction. You learn through demonstration, receiving the work, repetition, supervised practice and personal correction.
This matters with Amataros because precision matters. A small change in position, angle or pressure can change the quality of the technique considerably.
